Family

  • Experience working in partnership with families.
  • Experience working with complex families, ie. Family domestic violence, homelessness, financial and social economic diversity.
  • Experience working with families from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds, aware and respectful of cultural needs.
  • Accessing and providing support to families of babies with health concerns.
  • Non judgemental support offered to families surrounding their choices regarding the care of their baby.
  • Providing education and support to families in transitioning to parenthood for the first 6 week 6 days

Maternal

  • Assesment of postnatal maternal health, and diviations of, ie. Wound management, breast care
  • Identification and support for maternal mental health
  • Provide support and counselling surrounding birth of baby, ie. birth trauma and postnatal concerns for both Mum and baby.
  • Support with breastfeeding ie. Postitioning and attachment, nipple shield, breast pump – type, expressing and flange sizing.

Baby

  • Cephalocaudal assessment of baby, referrals to other practitioners as needed
  • Providing support and education to families regarding baby’s development, early baby cues – baby language.
  • Oral and suck assessment for feeding concerns, tongue tie assessment and referrals.
