How can Baby and Me support me?

Baby and Me Postnatal and Lactation Care is run solely by Endorsed Midwives.

What is an Endorsed Midwife?

An Endorsed Midwife is an advanced practitioner, who has completed higher education, and is authorised to prescribe, administer and supply scheduled pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions.

Why do some Endorsed midwives offer antenatal and postnatal? and not intrapartum care? or just postpartum care?

Midwifery is made up of a continuum of care model, this includes Antenatal (when you are pregnant); Intrapartum (when you are in labour and give birth) and the Postnatal (once baby arrives until 6 weeks 6 days).

All areas are equally important, and present with their own unique challenges.

Postnatal Care is often the ‘forgotten cousin’, although it is a time of huge change and adjustment, it is often a time that is the least serviced. Too often information is provided during the hospital stay that is conflicting, is limited to a short space of time, and is often not offered consistently throughout the first 6 weeks 6 days.

Baby and Me is a postnatal service, that focuses entirely on this postnatal time, the service is unlimited, and as Endorsed Midwives Medicare rebates are provided with minimal to no out of pocket cost to families.

What makes up the postnatal service? Feeding – whether that is breast or bottle; settling; understanding stages of baby’s development (these change weekly); understanding newborn behaviours; maternal health (physical and mental); assistance with adjusting to parenthood with the main focus on supporting and empowering families to feel confident to care for their baby.

How does Baby and Me provide these services? and what do they cost?

Antenatally – Baby and Me are all International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC) and provide support via *telephone or *telehealth to discuss any concerns you have regarding establishing breastfeeding.

Hospital stay – Baby and Me can provide support with concerns regarding feeding via *telephone.
